Personnel Policies

1. Illegal drugs, prescription drugs, alcoholic beverages: Possession, use or sale of Illegal drugs, misuse of Prescription drugs and possession and/or use of any Alcoholic Beverages in Camp or during camp sponsored activities is prohibited. The legal age for alcohol in Massachusetts is 21. This law will be enforced in and out of camp. Behavior resulting in embarrassment to Camp Bauercrest in the community is prohibited. Violations will result in dismissal.

2. Prescription Medication: Staff must take their medicines directly to the health center in order to properly monitor and control prescription drugs in camp. Health Center staff will distribute and chart all staff medications. Certain medications may be exempted from Health Center distributions if approved by the Camp Director and the Health Center. NO MEDICATIONS of any kind may be kept in the camper cabins.

3. Firearms and/or Ammunition: Possession, use or sale of personal firearms or ammunition is prohibited in camp. Violations will result in dismissal.

4. Tobacco Product: Use of Tobacco products on camp grounds is prohibited.

5. Physical abuse, verbal abuse or harassment of campers and/or staff is prohibited and may result in dismissal. Any such acts should be reported.

6. Duties: Staff member understands that he is obligated to perform his duties as set forth in the contract. At the discretion of the Camp Director, a staff member may be excused from completing the contract in the event of a family or medical emergency, or for other reasons determined to be such by the Camp Director. If a staff member leaves before the contract period ends, he shall be treaded as in Breach of Contract. All compensation will be prorated and paid after the camping season has ended. Parents of staff may be called and informed of the dismissal or departure.

7. Waterfront Facilities: Use of Camp waterfront facilities when CLOSED may result in dismissal. Use of waterfront facilities requires a life guard to be on duty.

8. Staff Meetings: Staff Members must attend weekly staff meetings and other staff meetings designated by Group Leaders, Program Directors or the Camp Director.

9. Automobiles: All Automobiles should be parked in the staff parking lot. No unauthorized driving on the camp grounds. Exceptions can only be made by the Camp Director.

10. Cash and Valuables should be checked into the office at the Big House. Bauercrest assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen valuables not properly checked into the Big House.

11. Laundry Service is available weekly to staff members at no charge. Bauercrest is not responsible for lost or damaged clothes. Staff members are not obligated to use the camp laundry service and may do so at their own expense and on their own free time.

12. Time Off: Counseling staff will be allowed 6 days off during the camping season. Overnight leaves are permitted at the discretion of the Camp Director.

13. Regulations Governing Time Off: A day off begins after taps and ends before breakfast the following day. NO ONE is permitted to leave camp on Sunday Nights (Staff Meetings) and on the First and Last Night of Camp.

14. STAFF MEMBERS agree to wear the Camp Bauercrest Staff shirts on opening day, closing day, visiting day and for all out of camp trips.

15. Pets or animals may not be brought to camp. There are no exceptions.

Failure to abide by any of the above polices may result in termination of my contract. Failure to carry out daily responsibilities may also result in termination of contract. All final judgements regarding dismissal of staff will be solely at the discretion of the Camp Director.
